JNTO Awarded Best NTO at the 20th TTG Travel Awards 2009

Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) is extremely proud and honoured to receive the Best NTO award at the 20th TTG Travel Awards 2009. The award ceremony was held on Thursday, 8 October 2009 in conjunction with the IT & CMA and CTW 2009 Asia-Pacific event in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Visit Japan Campaign (VJC) launched in 2003 aims to attract ten million overseas visitors to Japan by 2010. JNTO with its 13 overseas' offices in Asia, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, UK and the US has made significant contributions in its promotional and marketing campaigns to showcase Japan as the ideal travel destination for leisure or business.

JNTO has worked very closely with local and regional industry partners to promote and support the travel trade partners in China, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore. Despite the many challenges affecting global travel worldwide, Japan has seen an upsurge of visitor arrivals from the Asia region in recent years. 167, 894 Singaporeans visited Japan in 2008, an increase of more than 10% compared to the previous year. In the visitors' survey polled at the recent 3-day NATAS Holidays 2009 held from 28 to 30 August 2009, Japan is ranked the top 3 most popular destinations Singaporeans would like to visit.

"We would like to express our most profound thanks to all TTG readers and travel partners for their unwavering support in JNTO activities and would like to share the honour of this prestigious award with all the airlines, travel agents, media and ardent fans of Japan from this region" says Mr Hideki Tomioka, the Executive Director of JNTO Singapore Office.

This Best NTO award could not have come at a better time as Japan celebrates the "Visit Japan Year" in 2010. With the full support of its travel industry partners, JNTO is inspired further to fulfill its mission of achieving the target of 10 million visitors.
